Default GS300 na-t problem

GS300 na-t problem

i have a 1999 Lexus GS300 (vvti 2jz-ge) running a modified clubna-t t60ish turbo "kit" with aem FIC for tuning. over the Christmas holiday i left for about a week (before leaving the car was running beautifully getting 31mpg), came home fired up the car, she cranked and idled ok for a cold start ruff ish but not anything that worried me. went to take the car around the block and as soon as any boost hit it went into limp mode as if the aem unit was not even hooked up. i figured the battery might have been dead causing some problem, brought it home, pulled the bat, threw in a fresh one and same problem.

does anyone know whats happening?

or had a similar problem

i'm pretty set on going to the shop in the am and toss it back to stock and deal with it in a few months. but if someone thinks it something simple i'd love to keep the super sleeper running

Simple things might not be so obvious but have you checked the plugs and all wiring connections?

pulled the spark plugs before firing it up and then again after, all 6 look brand new.

i thought maybe a connection might be loosed so i double checked over all i could, every cut off/and connection look great. one was sloppy so i redid it but it was just for a volt gauge nothing special.

this is one thats even bringing my tuner to saying wtf?????? since he's gone over the car several times

yep the aem unit is the problem for some reason we didn't think it would be considering it's only a few months old, and i decided to clean up some pipes and the manifold and noticed there is a sweet crack starting to form so the cars going back to na so it can keep being a dd while some rewelding is done, new unit is ordered (might switch) , bead all the pipes, etc

I know Titan has had a pile of AEM's fail before they made it out of the parking lot. Shame since they ain't cheap and I own one but if a problem ever comes into play on my car AEM is the first step.

He has the AEM FIC piggyback not the AEM EMS. I daily drive the AEM EMS without issues but have a backup just incase that I have not needed to use *knock on wood*

First thing that came to my mind is faulty connection to the FIC.

^yeah it's the fic not ems. i'm pretty sure the unit is bad, we swapped it out with a friends and his car had the same problem as mine. i emailed aem they sound like there is a chance of them working with me, but i don't have time to have the car down so back to non boosted for now while i figure out what happened. sure was fun while it lasted
