i say keep that blue beauty dan. the oil pan gasket is a very easy fix that you can do in the driveway and i dont know about that tranny pan problem but if need be pay for that one. but see the thing you will be needing soon is a reliable car which is what you have. so what it doesnt run blistering times it gets you from point a to point b without worries and that is really whats important.

you are going to school which is a good step in life and i am sure with time you will find a major and work in that field which inturn will bring money your way. which means then you will be able to but whatever you want and do whatever to it as well. but we all know that toyota will last through this all and remain to be a good daily driver.

so my opion says stick with the camary for the relibility right now and later on down the road pick up a project car that you can leave parked for a few weeks if need be.

I had a car alarm place add power locks to my dakota... are you sure that the dealer is the only place that will do it for you?

They only charged me like $60/door actuators included.

Hey buddy you know my stance on this! I say swap the MR2 motor or bolt on the turbo kit. It would be awesome to see a sleeper Camry blowing peoples doors off! Last thing I would do is swap a 5 speed trany in. But thats just my .02.

How hard/expensive would it be to get a 5spd tranny in there? I would be willing to bet a 5spd tranny would knock .5 off your 1/4 and be a hell of a lot more reliable. You really cant modify that engine or any engine connected to that weak ass auto tranny. Does the MR2 tranny work? I have a 5SFE w/tranny that is equipped with an ACT clutch for sale. (96k miles) Came out of my MR2 A guy I work with offered me $500. The engine needs a little work. Valve guide seals and a distributer seal (again). I feel your pain!! I used to have to go to school in an auto Suzuki Swift GTi. What a peice of shit. I waited a couple years and now Im in an MR2..worth the wait. Good luck man.
