electrical issue
'89 NA auto supra. when it cranks it starts otherwise the car will just click like the battery is dead. the problem started gradually a couple onths ago. since the issue i removed the amps and subs, replaced the battery and battery terminals. the new battery was good for 2 1/2 weeks and needs to be jump started once a day just like the old one. my 75 amp jump starter works every time and the battery has been charged twice in the last 2 months! had the alternator checked out on and off the car and no voltage/amp issues were found. the drive belt is also brand new and does not appear to slip. i would have replaced the starter but since the issue is affecting the battery i am not going to spend all day removing the intake or lifting the motor to get the damn thing out without a good reason. i have checked all my lights and nothing visibly remains on except for the stock alarm light. so far i have been disconnecting the negaitve terminal while at work which has helped BUT sucks because it rains almost every freakin day. i even checked/cleaned some grounds to the block and chassis but from there i am out of options. has anyone run into this issue for these cars? what else can i do?
Its definitely the alarm. I had plenty of issues with my other Supra when I had it, and thats what it was. To reset the alarm on these cars, cycle the key a few times in the passenger door. Thats all I can say..it sounds like the car thinks its being stolen
