Default COLD AIR INTAKE on my camry ???

Hey, alright I will be frank, I've got a stock 98 Camry LE, really dont know jack about cars but I was thinking about adding to my car, just to make it a little faster and a little more personable.
I was thinking about putting a Cold Air Intake on it but I have no idea where to start.
A friend of mine put 1 on his Neon, drove it through a puddle and blew it up and i don't want anything like that to happen.
SO IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE please send it my way

get one that doesn't put the filter right where you might puddle it. brands such as injen make quality products. here's an example off some random website google brought up

If you have the V6 3.0 1MZ, the best bang for the buck is the CPE intake. They have a tunable or non-tunable with peak gains of 17.5 wheel hp and 20.1 wheel ft lbs. I know quite a few people with this intake and swear by it. A bit pricey, but well worth it.
