Default 01 Toyota Celica Help!

Ok guys heres the deal.
2001 Celica GT

The car doesnt run to well. It seems as if there is a hesitation while accelerating. Like I press the gas pedal and you hear the engine working, but the RPMs and speedo are barely moving, then it kicks in out of no where (almost like a turbo). Gas mileage isnt the best either.

Air filter and spark plugs are new. No check engine light. Anyone have any idea what might be the problem? Thanks

I was thinking it might had something to do with my MAF. How would I go about cleaning it?
