Default HELP----7MGE High oil pressure problem?

91 Cressida
I recently replaced the headgasket along with a completely rebuilt head on my mothers car. The car starts and idles beautifully.

Then...oil starts to leak where the oil filter meets the block. Install new filter and clean area. Restart and after running about 10 seconds, oil starts squirting AGAIN from the same area.I removed the filter to discover the o-ring on the new filter has also been blown out.
WTH could do this?
The cams were not binding when they were torqued down. Everything seems to spin freely and no noticeable odd sounds.

Any suggestions before I start pulling the head is greatly appreciated!
Im more of a honda guy and am not super familiar with this engine

i was going to say that but i dont think there is a way to put it on backwards .. get a cheap oil pressure gauge and see if its way high... why was the head replaced? could it have been that you had a ton of metal shaving from soemthing that is blocking up oil passages in the block causing excessive pressure..??

The head is original however it was overheated when the headgasket blew. After a leakdown test,it was discovered #5 and 6 blown.

The head was disassembled, checked for cracks, and reassembled by the machine shop including new valve seals. They had to mill .016 to get the head straight.
Metal shavings is not likely but anything is possible. The machine shop cleaned the head and I blew it off again right before installation. I think Im going to just pull the cams and crank to see if I got oil to the head...

Is there anykind of "oil pressure orifice" on the 7MGE?
Anyone verify the head gasket position of installation?
Thanks for the input
-Nik

Checked the autoparts store and it looks like the HG can only go on one way. The parts guy also believes this...So it looks like the HG is OK.
Thank you Baby Jesus!!!
That leaves the camshafts...
Im going to check the camshafts runout to make sure theyre straight...
Any more input?

haha yeah right!
Well I took the cams out and saw where it had contact with a couple cam holders. Intake # 2,#3 and 4 were shiny and Exhaust #2 and 3 were a little bit also....
I "polished" all the cam holders with an old 220 grit on a die grinder and took a little 400 to the cam journals itself...
Cleaned everything up and reinstalled. So far so good. No blown out oil filters/ I think the cams were just a little too tight causing high oil pressure.
I let it run for about 20 seconds and inspected the cam caps again. Everything looked OK when I cranked it over with the valvecovers off...
So Im keeping my fingers crossed and am going to finish up tomorrow!
