I installed a K&N air intake on my 00 Celica GTS and my check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer ship and the said i should drill a hole in the intake and attach a tube from there to the vacuum switch? Ne other ideas of what could be wrong?

 

that could be it. That or the filter element was over oiled and it fried ur plugs and dirtied some of ur sensors...

 

my fiance's car did the same thing. Take your mafs out and spray it down with some crc mafs cleaner. let it dry and reinstall it. Also disconnect your battery before doing this to reset the code. We put in just a k&n drop in filter though not a whole intake. The computers on these cars are super sensitive and a complete pita. goodluck. if this doesn't help your problem try newcelica.org

 

Check the maf sensor, they are super sensitive on those cars, my friend messed his up just changing the filter.

 

I've had my AEM CAI installed on my GT-S for over three years without an issue, but its AEM's second generation. I know the first generation threw a CEL... It deals with the vacuum lines from the butterfly valve on the stock airbox. Do some searching on --> NewCelica.org - Complete 2000+ Toyota Celica Resource and you'll find your answer.

 

I had the same problem with my injen when I had the celica.......it was the MAF sensor. All you need to do is take the black box off the intake, clean the sensor with a QTip, and reinstall. Then disconnect the battery for about 30 sec to reset and you should be good. Hope this helps.
