Swap Toyota Celica Engine

Hello i have a toyota celica GT 1991 its a automatic, i want to put a M/T Engine... im going to put same year engine though or is it ok to put higher model like 92-93.....do i have to do the wirings.. im new to fixing and swapping engines im trying to learn thanks a lot.

hey man the guy you'll wanna talk to is named elsuperspic. he's somewhat of an expert on 5th generations... and i know he did an engine swap a while ago. heres a post of his gl!

Meh I'm no expert but if I was to do that swap I would definately get the wiring harness from the new engine because your also swaping it from a/t to m/t. Should bolt right in if I recall, I would suggest just pulling the 5sfe out of another celica.

If you are planning on going to a manual trans from an auto,
look at a car at a junkyard, and note all the things attached
to that trans. That tells you what you will need to buy, and
there is more to the story................

If your motor is bad, swap the motor first. Drive it while you are collecting the trans parts. Easier than doing both with pedal swaps clutch linkage, and more.-Bob

I already went to junkyard and i found a M/T i was thinking if it is ok to swap 92-94 M/T to a 1991 Celica GT, oh my celica is GT it ok to get a M/T to a non GT celica thanks for the advice guys...
