Default Coolant leaking?

I recently just recieved a 92 Camry for free. Of course something is wrong with it. THe thing is that the coolant leaks. The guy said that it is leaking from the engine itself and not the radiator. ?? He said once u add water to the radiator, it will start leaking and I have to drive it home and keep an eye on the temp gauge, once it starts heating up, add more water.

So the question is, what is wrong with it exactly? And how can I fix it , if not, then I will send it to the shop. Thanx.
