Default Help a Ford guy with a Corolla

Hey all, I recently was given a '90 Corolla 4 Door as a daily driver. I'm wondering if you guys can help me with a few issues it's having. The main one is there is a draw somewhere on the battery and it goes dead if it isn't started at least once a day. I noticed that the clock stays on all the time and wondered if that may be the problem. I don't really feel like messing with it until I asked around to see what it may be. Any help is appreciated and thanks.

Chris

Maybe one of the relays is getting a ground from somewhere? Checked the ACC and main relays? That would be my first suspicion.

Ground was my first suspicion. Fords are notorious for having bad grounds from the battery to the frame. That's why I asked in here, hoping that maybe this car had a known issue that a few people might be quick to point out to me. Thanks.

Yeah man thats definately a problem, something is draining your battery b/c the clock is definately suppose to shut off. I would check fuses.

uhh the clock stays on all the time.. if it has a aftermarket radio.. i would start there..
you could allways stick a ammeter inbetween the ground wire and battery and start pulling fuses to see when the draw drops.. and another thing to do is make sure it accually is a draw and not a shot ass battery get a good multi meter that does amperage..
usually up to 10amps with the internal fuse..
take the negative cable off
place the test leads in the correct holes in the meter and put one on the neg terminal and one on the ground wire.. see if it registers any flow if so then you have a draw if it says nothing then you pretty much have a shit battery..

start the car.. let it idle for a minute or 2
turn the car off turn the key back to the run position
turn the headlights on for 2-3 mins
then try to start
if it dont start get a new battery ,,or you could allways take it to the autoparts store and have them do a charge system battery test
they sometimes have a inductive ammeter on the testing deal

wow i just typed all that
