2jz 6spd in an IS300
I have been thinking of doing this project for quite some time. I know however that it will be horribly more expensive than my other projects. 14k invested in my GSX and 10k in my 240sx. i know that this would be around the 25k range which is why i havent started it yet. i don't have 25 k in the bank. Has anyone ever done the supra motor in an is300? Is there anywhere where i can find info on this? I am convinced that this would be one of the hottest projects on the road today, so any input anyone can give would be appreciated. Please excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid or overasked question, but i am new to the toyota lineup in general and have never heard of this being done before. THANKS,
-chris

$25K?? no, it would be alot cheaper than that, unless you decide to build it and single turbo it. Do you have an account on www.supraforums.com? If not then email them and ask for one. There is alot of info on there.

i was thinking 25k including the cost of the car. I figured i could get a shell or salvage title like a theft recovery or blown motor car for under 10k. that was my hope. i figured the rest of the expense would be a descent set of coilovers, all the basic turbo toys such as fuel upgrades and a boost controller and obviously motor and 6spd tranny conversion. any other thoughts???
Club Lexus or Club NA-T would be good places to start. The IS platform has ssen this done numerous times. There have been several feature cars in Turbo magazine and others with this done. Larry at Innovations in Orlando has done this to several IS's. If you are planning on doing a full 2JZ-GTE 6 speed swap get ready to spend about $15 to $20K on parts, etc for everything. If you want to Turbo the GE engine and swap in the 6 speed I would say it would cost about $12K to do it RIGHT. There are lots or people that say it can be done for less but you will spend more in the long run redoing shit that a few extra bucks in the begining would have avoided.
Good luck with your project.

also try www.is300.net to go along with supra forums, club na-t, and club lexus. This has definitely been done many many times including a local car(Matt's blue is300) NA-T kit with 67mm turbo, GTE bottom end, 6spd, etc....

If the owner of that IS300 is on here it would be nice to see some dyno graphs, pics, 1/4 mile times, etc... if anyone knows him.
thanks everyone for the help. it seems a little more expensive than i expected which kinda sux, but i didn't know ANYONE else had done this and it is good to hear that many people have. i should be able to find out the info i need on the project.
THANKS AGAIN!

Me and my coworker did a 6 speed into is300 a while back. There's some fab involved in the shift linkage and driveshaft. It's really not that bad definitely doable.
It's just that damned tranny is very expensive.

GTE shortblock and V160 fit fine, but I think the head/intake manifold setup on the GTE wont work.
