Default problems with my mr2 already :(

I just bought a 92' n/a mr2 about two weeks ago. it ran fine until yesterday when it wouldnt start up.

figured it must be the battery so i took it to discount, they tested it and it had 22 cranking volts... so i bought a new battery, installed it... drove it home happily.

well, i went to start it today and it wont start again. I figure it must be the alternator since it started right up with new battery.

so i open the hood and I can't even see the alternator..

lemme explain... I've owned camaros and mustangs all my life... I'm not used to a compact little engine bay. I'm looking all over the passanger side of the motor and I see nothing that even resembles a alt...

I feel like a retard, b/c I've changed manifolds/ TB's/ etc... etc.. etc.. on most of my cars myself but i can't figure out this little thing??

soo....... I was wondering if any of you mr2 gooruuu's would care to help a new mr2 owner out?!?

I'm in Oldsmar, FL right by the AMC 20... if someone came out and helped me change the alt... I'd be more than happy to buy beer/ lunch and compensate for time travel.

thursday and friday i have off this week.. not sure about next week... untill then i'll have to drive my ss around.

dunno the gen years but here are the instructions for a gen 1 mr2
http://www.padandwheels.com/mr2/alte...lternator.html

I believe this is a newer gen Turbo mr2 engine. It looks like the alt is under the intake manifold.

paypal cassio@tampabay.rr.com 5$ thanks.

you do not have to drop the subframe to get it out... Its actually very easy and can all be done on teh bottom. Jack it up real high and go searching for it, its on passenger side underneath the intake manifold. There will be a bolt on the back side (bottom) and a bolt on the front side (top). As well as a Bolt type tensioner. You will need to loosen the front top bolt, then loosen bottom bolt, then loosen side tenioner bolt all the way to get belt off, then remove both top and bottom bolts to remove alternator. Depending on who has been tinkering with teh car before there may or may not be a alternator stay you will need to remove. hope this helps... And btw you will need to see the alt before attempting to understanding my instructions. It will all come clear after you see it.

A crowbar would be useful as well, because it might be tough to get out of the bracket once it is unbolted. For a more specific location, it is at the far rear of the passenger side under the intake manifold.
