Question Mini Gauges (Mechanical -Vs- Electrical)

I'm looking into one of those, "Mini Tri Gauge Clusters", that monitor:

Temp
Batt
Oil

What is the best thing to do when selecting between Mechanical and Electrical style gauges? And why?

Also, and suggestions on where to buy such a thing?

The main difference between elec and mech is mech uses a nylon line to bring the fluid (be it water, oil, fuel, or air) to the gauge and monitors the pressure from it. electrical uses the same thing but its external and in the engine bay, then the reading get to the gauge by a wire harness.

electrical is recommended on fuel pressure, water temp, and oil pressure and temp gauges. you dont want any of that coming inside the cabin, and i want to say its not allowed in sanctioned track events (the big ones, im sure you can get away with it at bradenton or sunshine or something). YOU CAN upgrade to a stainless line with fittings for the mechanical ones since theyre more durable. (nitrous pressure gauges ALWAYS have stainless lines with them, since nitrous is run at higher pressure levels than a nylon line can handle).

Obviously certain gauges like an A/F ratio and Voltmeters are going to be electrical in nature.

You might look into finding a Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Oil Temp 3 gauge hookup, or a Boost, EGT, or other gauge. You can actually buy a turbo timer nowadays (like greddy, hks) that have voltmeters in them and that saves you a spot for another gauge you might want.

Defi makes these for alot of money, Omori makes them, Blitz has a triple 43mm gauge panel, but i think its not made anymore...search google for them. SPLParts.com has the defi one i think if u want to take a look.

It might be cheaper to buy a 3 gauge panel and get 3 autometers or greddys or something and piece it together with the gauges of your choice.

good luck.
