get ARP head studs torque them to at least 85ft/lbs

get a cometic headgasket

and as far as bpu a divorce downpipe yields good gains

haha wow...

ok let me see if i can get you a list to do it RIGHT (read: never have to do it again):

Headgasket(preferably Cometic)
Headgakset SET (will give you all the top end gaskets)
thermostat and O-ring
Oil
Coolant
Machined Head
Block checked for warpage(if warped it needs to be machined...if not you can clean it really well and lap it)
Torque Wrench
Either NEW HEADBOLTS from toyota...OR PREFERRED ARP STUDS

i think thats all you really need... but while taking it apart and doing things youre bound to break some vacuum hoses which you should replace anyways....among a few other small things...

if you are 100% new to turning a wrench...it will be a project...hit me up on aim at lamplitersniper and ill help you out...and maybe if you are near ill help you do it...

as for "BPU" technically thats a mk4 term but hey why not lol..."BPU" on a mk3 would be intake, exhaust, boost controller thats about it... that will put you around the 300hp mark depending upon exhaust and psi you will be running.

When you use a torque wrench if you dont have a superb one rent one from autozone. as far as replacing the HGS every 20k miles depends on how u replace it the first time
oh Jayson you forgot the copper gasket spray

change out the belt tensioner, and replace the timing belt while you're in there.

lmao...fuck you ian! i still blame brian for telling me that damnit...what a wasted 500 bucks that was...my fuel mods

and as for the timing belt and tensioner...you could..but frankly IMO enjoy the fact that its a non interference engine and dont worry about the timing belt shit until it breaks besides you dont have to take off the lower timing belt covers to do a hg job

if you're going to pull the engine do everything, belt seals, tensioner... everything just for insurance, and the fact you dont have to do it again
