yes

giving a rough overlay is simple

yes

if you ask for specific years
we as in toyota people can give you more indepth answer

but usually all it is, is ecu, throttle bodies, wiring harness, and sometimes slight internals but thats it

99-01 es300=97-01 camry v6/99-01solara v6

01 on 1mzfe was revamped and slight internals were changed, ecu, harness, and more specific emision & other control devices

earlier years don't really matter= if anything goes wrong just custom a 1mzfe or 3sgte into it andyou'll be straight and it will be slightly more than an overhaul or oem swap with twice the hp and twice the fun

This is by far the evilest worst creation Toyota has made to date. This makes the last gen Celica look freakin awesome.

I hate it with a passion! Its killing the 2JZ, going from one of the best engine configurations to the worst...

Aight I'm done. As was said, there are other great Toyota powerplants to use instead, but yes they are nearly 100% identicle

Maybe the worst for peak power, but the switch to the V6 has a lot of reasoning behind it. It is more compact and lighter than the I6, its cheaper to build using less materials. It is much smaller especially length wise so easier to fit in things. (In europe, cars now must be "pedestrian safe" so they have huge spaces in front of the motors that are made to absorb the impact of the pedestrian before he hits the engine block and splits his skull.)
The V6 most likely wont ever make the same power, but its bound to be more efficient because toyota never steps backwards in that department, less rotating mass due to a smaller length crank might also make for better gas mileage along with other things.

indeed bill. good engines.

also, dont be fooled into thinking that the lexus es motors put out more than the toyota version. years ago we tried to pinpoint the exact changes between the 1mz-fe in the es300 and the camry v6, most people said it was the muffler/exhaust design and /or intake design. after some dynoes, and factoring in automatic transmission losses (the rarer 5 speed v6's were a moot point in this comparison), it was decided they were the same, and the 97-01 motors were rated at 192 for the toyota and 200 for the lexus. most people just figure the companies raised the numbers on paper for the lexus to distinguish it from the toyota numbers and to keep the "superior seperation" there.

but yeah, theyre stout.

dan one point as to the hp change was also the lexus' version 1mz-fe's also had dual throttle body setups, and ecu tweaked slightly -the rev limiter was set about 500rpm more than the camry

the 1mzfe dexterity is awesome
6 bottles at 100 shot and the BUILT TRANSMISSION BLEW BEFORE THE BOLT ON AND SLIGHTLY MODDED ENGINE DID
AS A MATTER OF FACT MY 1M IS AT 35000MILES AND IT STILL FEELS STRONG AS HELL/ IF NOT STRONGER DUE TO I THINK IT IS FINALLY BROKE IN

DAMN TOYOTAS AND THERE INFINITE LIFETIME

LOL

thats right i forgot about the dual TB's. as far as the rev limiter being 500rpm higher i doubt thats enough room to give a peak hp number, we all know the cams fell rather flat way before then

i had a friend that blew like 2 or 3 1mz-fe motors, finally s/c'ed it and then i lost touch. but they all lasted a long time on a rather big shot, i think 100 like yours. he pushed his tuning though hehe.

i'd still like camry daily driver again, 3rd gen, 94 - 96 with the early 1mz-fe, jp performance headers, custom up pipe, supra mk3 ct-26 upgraded wheel, level10 tq converter just like my friend tony's setup. 280whp with a powerband of 250+tq from 2000-6000rpm
