Default weight reductions for the 88 Supra?

What can be removed without making it a gutted car?

Can I remove the front bumper and will the fasica stilll retain its form?

Has anyone seen any sites that show these things done? I know more weight could be dropped from these cars.

I have just started making my Cold Air/ Ram air setup. I will post the results, if I get any HP gains from it.

1) sound deadening material under the carpet about 40 lbs
2) emissions shit you dont need 5lbs+
3) heat plates under the car 1-2lbs
4) 3rd brake light 1 lb
5) underbody protection plating 20+
6) tow hooks 3lbs
7) hood pins instead of hood pop 1 lb
unnecesary braces ?+
9)inner door sound deadening material 5lbs
10) all sound deadening materials attached to inner firewall 20 lbs

thats about 100 lbs off
do seats and itll go up to about 130 off
go lightweight rims about 150 off

fiber hood 155-160 off

fiber fenders 200 off
fiber kit 210 off
aluminum bolts 225 off

weight reduction is limitless

Really light rims will save ~100 lbs because they'd be "rolling mass". Fenders are ~100 each I think. Power driver seat is 70-80 or so, passenger is 30-50 I think.

Its all in the links I gave.

Thank you very much.

I finished my ram air intake setup and it works perfectly.

I just used 4" metal dryer vent hose from the stock oval inlet pipe and connected that to this scoop I got from a turbo Saab. Used hose clamps to keep it together, and then used metal tape for the connection from the stock inlet to my new 4" pipe.

This works so well, my metal intake manifold is warm now, not burning hot, its just barely warm, and the increase in throttle response over 60 mph is greatly improved, I would guess maybe 10 to 15 hp increase. Gas mileage also went up to 93 miles per quarter tank it was 70 per quarter.

you got 15-20 hp from dryer duct? i dont think so... especially if its on a turbo.

smurf didnt lighten his car, 137msupra did, or whatever John's name was. thats the car that Bucsfanatic59 has. that car was stripped out. basically had 2 seats and not much else. probably the center console.

smurf is Fixin to lighten his blue turbo but hasnt done it yet. its not even legalized yet.

the fenders are probably 15 lbs each. i know for a fact because i had to remove the fenders on the JZ clip to get to the body harness. the front fenders are just tin's, not heavy at all. the hood is heavy as fuck, so is the bumper support. you cant remove the entire bumper support because thats what the front fascia is bolted to. w/o it, youd have 6 bolts holding on the entire fascia and it would flap in the wind like your boxer shorts run up the flag pole. there are 2 bolts on either side of the nose, 2 bolts holding the corners to the fender, and 2 nuts holding the lower corners to the flimsy brace behind the fender liner. thats all there is to hold it on when the bumper support is removed. your best bet is to cut the bumper support and just leave the ends where they bolt into the frame rails. youll at least have 10 more bolts holding the bumper on. alot safer and alot sturdier.

the sound deadener takes up quite a bit, but alot of the weight is stuff you need to keep you from dying, like the DOT side impact beams, front and rear bumper supports. the rest is to keep the car from collapsing in on itself, like inside the A pillars and such.

whats more important; having an interior or having a lightweight car?

your spare tire alone is ~45 lbs. ditch it, carry some fix-a-flat and a cell phone w/ your AAA card.

buy some new rims too.

honestly, there isnt alot on the supra that i could stand to lose. most of it is supposed to be there. not alot that is just flab and useless. the shit that is useless doesnt weigh all that much, like tow hooks, fog lights, Tems actuators, etc.
