Default Camry oil leak

My mom has a 95 or 96 camry that leaks oil when you start it up. When you pull it out of the garage you can see drips of oil every 6 inches or so. It only leaks for a minute or until the car is warmed up a little. I think its the rear main seal but if anyone has any other suggestions please do so. And also how hard is it to replace the rear main seal. Thanks!

Karl

rear main seals are easy you just need a transvese enging holder we do alot of them on ES's and RX's . how many miles are on the car cuz the warrenty is pretty long on those. alot of our customers dont even pay for them. but again i dont know about the toyota warrenty, just lexus.

ahhhh. yeah .wayyyyyyyyyyy out of warrenty. but the job isnt too bad as long as everything goes ok. ie drive shaft comes out of mount. and all that . the higher mileage ones tend to strip bolts on the exhaust. but over all not a hard job.

Honestly, you could literally go a really long way on them and it wont matter. You can put in diesel instead of gas and it wont matter. I'm not saying you should, but try to fix it, if you cant ASAP you'll be okay though

as long as its comming from the seam between the engine and trans it should be a rear main. although we have seen trans cases leaking from having a pourous case. but with that kind of mileage most likley its a rear main. and ill agree with supra.....what the fuck kind of answer was that ?

I think we all have to agree that was a weird answer too.

I was just saying that some cars take more damage than others, however if I had this same problem I wouldnt worry as much, although still get it fixed. Friend of mine has a 89 or so with an oil leak, but its not bad, like this one. Car probably has close to 200,000 miles and still runs great. If you are that concerned though...like Kirk said put it up on something or look under it as you start it to find the general area it comes from. I think either under the engine or the oil pan is where it sometimes will drip a bit.

I mentioned those wtf things because I've heard of that actually happening in a Camry before, along with running without oil for a few days
