Default Drove the Scion tC, or rather sat in one...

Well I went to the event here in orlando at Full Sail. The roads around the college were 100% traffic jammed so we had to stay in the lot under 10mph, so I have NO performance data whatso ever...

That said.

Things that impressed me:

The radio cover, and all center console silver stuff, that normally looks like plastic in the pics is REALLY ALL METAL, and the door for the CD player dosent shake side to side!!! its well made!

The sunroof is neat, efficient, and looks awesome.

Seats are perfect, and the cloth is great

Leather optional sterring wheel is a MUST, it feels so good

Guages are also in METAL not grey plastic, kinda mclaren F1 esque
Looks great

Paint quality is excellent, stock rims are excellent

Under the hood is well kept, all things look quality.

Lots of rear space with rear seats folded

Alarms adn accessories work well, no cheapness detected in switches and so on

the 5spd gearbox has excellent gates and good solid feel, WTG toyota

automatic gearbox has the wierd mercedes/is300 style gates but works fine and dosent feel cheap

windows are fully auto power up and down for all windows.

Lots ofstorage room in the cabin.

Downsides:

Very little rear seat room, reclining rear seats are practically useless for someone my size, but it feels like riding in my dads integra which is what this car is aimed at, making an integra better for 6K less (GS-R's used to be 22K or so new).

I didnt get to beat on it, but just for hitting speed bumps at 10-15mph th esuspension feels soild, over all i'm extremely impressed and I'm signed up to test drive one at a dealer the RIGHT way in a week or so.

+1 scion! WTG

nope, the supercharger wont hit the shelves for the tC until December i'm told.. I wouldnt bother to buy it tho, I' wouldnt be buying a TC to be fast, its plenty quick NA. If i wanted to spend 20 grand i'd be in an SRT4 instead, but the TC is integra esque with better options for lots less money, its a great buy

i did the "build your own scion" and my XB was over 20 grand!!! hahahahahaha. but i looked at the TC and think its hot. its kinda weird, you have a celica with 2500lbs, 180hp 1.8 for $25k or a 2900lb $17k TC with a 160hp camry motor. which do you buy?

wait until the supercharger comes out and make your decision then... at 160hp, i bet the scion tC is definitely quick "enough" in stock form, but the SC brings 200hp with solid dyno curves to the table, and that can make a big difference... it will make the difference to someone who wants coupe hatchback styling with lots of space but lots of power... it won't make the difference to someone who wants smaller, lighter and yet still powerful...

i wish i could be completely sold on the tC in its current form, but i think the rear wheels are pushed back too far (which i guess is to accomodate all that space back there)... i'd be more willing to consider purchasing after the SC comes out and more body styling options...

i agree, however, that the backroom seating is kinda funky... its just a 2+2 that reclines, so its really just meant for *quick* transports of more than 2 adults
