I've been thinking long and hard about the new MRS. The chasis is spectacular and the response from the meek engine is quite nice. But the fact that I only get less than 150hp with the car is quite a party stopper. But the more I think about if I could have 220hp with the MRS it get even more tempting. Especially if the car remains NA. I know there are a few turbo kits for the MRS coming out from Japan, but I would like to keep the tight cornering work that you can only get from an NA car. This would just keep adding to the MRS's great chasis. So is there any hope for the 1zzfe to be tuned up? There is also the case of swapping the Celica GTS 2ZZFE or the late 3SGE VVT JDM engine. The thought of having a 220-250hp NA MRS is just giving me goose bumps .

There are more than a few turbo mkIII mr2's out there. They run 12's easily on stock internals with tiny peanut turbos with little or no lag.

there are a shit load of turbo kits available for the mrs 1zz. pistons, rods, valves, clutches, flywheels, you name it.. 1zz has a lot of potential.

There are also a lot of people on spyderchat that have swaped 2zz's in their spyders. some have also swaped in the 6 speed with the 1zz motor.

Not to mention. 2005 corollas will have the 2zz option from factory.

and oh yea... 1zz complete engines are pretty cheap if you blow it up, or if you want to keep a spare for building it up. it can be had for around $500 if you look around.

i say put a twin turbo vr6 in it!!! or a 1z turbo will do for now

also, i'd be neat to see a v6 go into one, may be a option if you have access to a welder.

doesnt some company make a full titanium exhaust for the 1zz, that would be a petty killer mod, that thing is probably crazy light.

i'd wait and get the trd supercharger they are developing for it. not only will you get 200 wheel horse (if not, more), its factory installed so you keep your warrantee so if your going around one of those tight curves and lose it, your covered!

That would be HOT. Imagine the mkIII mr2 with 270 rwhp and a limited slip. Get rid of those crappy neon headlights and it might be close to the perfect car.
