Default spark plugs for mr2

What should I gap the ngks at for my 3rd gen 3sgte. The suggested .80 on the mr2 faq doesnt seem to be the best for it.It seems to be running rich .

well richness has nothing to do with gap but it sounds like your getting a really waek spark .80 is way off tho, .30ish range is stock.(i dont rember) the more boost you are running the closer the gap needs to be or a better coil is needed.

last time i had to mess with an mr2 gap, .25ish range was where it worked best. this was on a stock coil with many thousands of miles and 19psi

.27-.29 range works best for me. I also always use NGK copper plugs, and just change plugs every 8-10k miles.

The spark plug gapper I used has two sides, one .80, the other was like .30-32 Im pretty sure, anyhow thanx for the info. Man my car is running so rich . Id like to say its cause I have the boost set @ around 17 psi and the ecu( JDM) is just dumping fuel ,but then again thats just theory. Do I have to get a s-afc to lean it out . ????

you don't happen to have a afm and a atmosphere venting bov do you?

Anyways, I have a pigyback ecu (Perfect power smt6) that I may be willing to sell. It doesn't have the "bling bling" of the s-afc, but is a LOT better as it does more than just adjust fuel. I bought it in a groupbuy a few months ago, but I think I'm going megasquirt now and don't really need it. If your interested let me know...

A s-afc is what you would want to get. It will do what you need it to do. And since you have a gen 3, the s-afc will actually be effective, since you don't have the stupid afm. I am suprised to hear you gen 3 runs rich. Most of them don't. The stock maps are pretty damn good. Have you run it at the track, or put it on the dyno yet? Also, do you have any pics of your swap or your clip?
