Talked to the guy that has my car. He said he'll be able to easily find me a third gen, and maybe a clip for around 2-2500. He said itll take him a day to do and he really wants to work on my car. He wants to do a trunk mount intercooler, he said it wont cost me much more than a Greddy ic swap.

How different are the ET's of the third Gens from those with the stock engines?

A stock US 91-95 turbo run 14.7 according to motor trend. A stock JDM 95-98 turbo run 13.8. The guy you are dealing with can probably get you a Gen 2 for 2000-2500, but a Gen 3 is going to cost about $1500 more then that. If he gets a Gen 3 rear clip for under 3500 shipped, he must be performing lots of sexual favors to his supplier.

This is not a flame, so don't take it that way, but I have seen a lot of posts here and on the mr2 board about guys who have "a friend of a friend who can get___." Does that friend of a friend every show up with the goods? Not yet. Like JDMark said, unless there are sexual favors being performed, those friends usually don't produce. Just a constructive caution, not a flame.

he didnt say he def would be able to find me clip for that price he said if one turns up he would grab it if not he'll just get me an engine, tranny, ecu. I'll be happy with that. The guy has all kinds of hook-ups and he does really clean work. I went to his shop, he's working on a 98 mustang turbo, he drives a 2000 eclipse rs turbo, and he's building a turbo kit for my friends 240 that should put out 300 hp on like 9 psi.

I dont doubt him I've seen some of the deals he's gotten on parts. Plus he had a wide-body MR2 turbo project that he never got to finish so he's really cutting me alot of deals.

Us MR2 people have to rely on "friends of friends" to help us find things for our cars..its not like you can walk into any performance shop and they will have that shit laying out for you like the civic stuff. Just my insight..
