Default 4 door 2000 Toyota Corolla help needed?

Well toyota guys and gals for some odd reason my boy went and bought a a 4door 2000 corolla VE. And now he wants to make it street worthy. so far he has been able to find a body kit for it.. in my opinion the kit he found is wack but thats not important. its an automatic and we plan on making it stick im guess that will cost about 400 to 500 to do. But as far as engine goes what the hell can we do about that. This were you great toyota techies come in handy.. what can we do about this problem what engines are available for it?

intake = 2-3 hp or so.. exhaust 2-3 more... header (if they make one) maybe 3-5..

you might gain around 10 or so max from 1000 dollars in mods (possibly after labor, but my guess is + labor would be closer to 1500)......... you'll also gain a lot of annoying noise.. a lot of unnecessary police attention (read exhaust tickets)..... a lot of people laughing at you for being a ricer...... possible trouble with your warranty (i know that the parts of the warranty that are voided are only what they can prove has been damaged from the new parts.. BUT you still have to go thru a whole shit and schbang with the dealer for a few weeks if not longer....)

All this extra crap and bullshit, and your still slow as hell......... Just leave it stock and save for something worth modding...
