Default DP /WG question

If a factory down pipe , with an internal wastegate is replaced with a performance DP... does this mean , you will have to upgrade to an external waste gate , or would u still need an internal one... just got confused on that topic , because ive been looking at threads from parts forum , and saw the external WG...
???????

You have much to learn. The waste gate is on the turbo. The only way you can "upgrade" to an external wastegate is if you buy a turbo that does not have one.

but thats not entirely true muddy. you can put a wastegate on a car that has an interneal, and disable the internal gate.

true, but I didn't think of that since we are talking about a car with a lowly ct26.
I am not picking on you civismkr89, we all start in the same place. Why don't you try looking for some answers rather than asking questions? Spend some time on supraforums in the MKIII section and you will learn alot.

You'll find by reading anything on this forum that a lot of info in forums is BS anyway. I remember when back in the day I thought the 3000 pipe on my mkIII supra was the turbo itself cause I had no idea what a turbo even looked like.

An aftermarket downpipe intended for your make and model of car won't require an external wastegate so don't worry about it. The best way to figure things out is to start taking shit apart then call somebody to help you put it back together when you can't figure out how it goes back together It worked for me. Have fun with the car and feel free to email me if you have any more questions.
