CT26 60 Trim
I was thinkg about doing a 60 trim to my stock CT26 turbo for a 92 MR2. I was wondering how much HP increase that would give me? Also I was told that I wouldn't be able to up my boost unless fuel upgrades were done wonder if this is true? Thanks

not worth it....
a clip makes more power, but efficency goes straight to crap...
The solution for badass daily driven mr2 is as follows.
Basic boltons (Intake exhaust and boost controller)
GT28 (silvia s15 replica turbo from cheapturbo.com / not ghey disco potato thing)
Orlando Guy's new standalone ems that works with stock computer and harness (gotta find this guy's contact info again, but its like Secret Services Rom tune cept for SW 20)
Supra injectors + wallburro 255 pump if your worried abotu fuel, oh yeah + aeromotive regulator.....
Then tune at SS. make 300whp and spool fast, and be a baller.. any power past this and mr2 trannies begin to show their ugly fwd side..

Yeah, you would spend at least $500 upgrading your stock ct26, and all you would have to show for it is a really laggy stock turbo. If you're looking for cheap, fast power, you might consider buying a JDM ct20B. Do you have a T88?

HAHAHAHA, RIIIIIGGGHHTT.....if it comes to buying a new manifold/Downpipe/wastegate setup, it damn sure wouldn't be for a hopped up T25, full garrett T3/T4 is the way to go....for fast spool.... .48/stage II wheel, 47 trim compressor in T04B housing....good pump gas power..... .63 stage III wheel, 50 trim compressor in T04E housing.....man power.... .63, Stage V wheel, 56 trim SC61 compressor, T04S housing......the S15 turbo is great...for a stock turbo, i dont even see how you could justify going through all that bs to put it on an MR2 though, thats just stupid

the thing with the S15 turbo.. is he'll see full boost somewhere around 3600-3800rpm... no waiting like on the T3 T4...
I'm just providing something in there that isnt a "standard" T3 T4 kit...
If he wants T3 T4.. then KO racing's kit is awesome, as is the Garage advance kit..
I just wanna see someone use the S15 turbo to get 300whp on a SW 20... its already been done easilly on SR powered cars.. why not the 3s(yes i know packaging constraints, differences in head flow.. blah blah.... still, its gotta be possible, just at a higher boost)...
Plus, if he wants to upgrade... GT25R .86 will match to the same flange as the S15 bb... and give comparable results to the T3/T4 50 trim, but more likely in some ways better....
I understand LB's kits with the GT series sucked ass, but the GT25R .86 I still think is a superior turbo compared to the T3-T4 -50 trim... I dont think most people would knowtice the difference tho.
I guess if ya wanna do stuff for simplicity's sake... KO racings T3/T4 kit is prob fine..

i'd be pretty depressed if i hit full at 3800 on a bb t28, i was getting 20ish on my 50 trim on a stock 4G63 at about the same rpm, for fast spooooool, as i said, there is the .48 housing, stage II turbine, 47 trim and T04B cover...throw a ball bearing in there just for shits

well figuring that the SR vertable hits at 3600rpm (16lbs is his "full") and the mr2 has much worse packaging constraints.. then 3800 rpm is a decent guess for 2

To answer your questions T88..
Upgrading your ct26 is a waste when compared to a ct20b. You up the horsepower a bit with the upgrade, but the efficiency goes way down, not to mention the added 600-800rpm lag. Dispite what you say, a ct26 upgrade will cost you $500 with parts and labor, and for $150 more you could have a ct20b which is way more efficeint (makes the same power as a ct26 upgrade with a lot less lag and less loss in efficiency). Also, it is a direct bolt-on, unlike these t3/t4 talkers above.
Running an upgraded ct26 or ct20b is not require any fuel mods what so ever. The stock fuel system runs so rich, that the added cfm will only help stoich things out. You will need a boost controller to run higher boost. There are a few tricks for eliminating the boost cut on the MR2, read up on www.mr2faq.com to find those tips. Run no more than 16psi, 17psi with higher than 100 octane gas.
If you're on a budget, I recommend an intake, exhaust, downpipe, ct20b, and spal fan for the stock intercooler. Also a greddy profec b or blitz sbc for boost control. Also upgrade the clutch.
$125 intake (recommend A'pexi)
$500 catback exhaust (recommend A'pexi)
$250 downpipe (2.5") (recommend KO Racing)
$600-750 ct20b (recommend rebuild if you got the cash)
$250 boost controller (recommend Blitz SBC or DSBC)
$350 clutch (recommend SPEC stage 2 or ACT stage 2)
These items should net you 235-245rwhp which is enough to run high 12's
Keep in mind that an SAFC will do you no good unless you have HKS VPC.
One thing that I want someone to try, is dyno the car with a hole in the intake after the AFM and before the turbo and see if it makes more power. The extra air should help lean out the air/fuel mixture and make better power.

Yeah if I was in the mindset to go budget hunting and only look for 250rwhp max.. I'd definately do MR2drivers suggestion.. I was just thinking he was going a little higher than "basic boltons"........
