22R-EC questions
oil, like any engine depends on the condition, what you are doing with it, prefrance and budget. not in that order and not always all of them.
there is tons of 22R info on the web. use google, i dont think there are any 22R experts on TR. havent seen much talk about it here.
As for local 22R people i would have to say Raymond at fisherbuggies is the man to talk to. for a wile he was racing a turbo 22R rail dragster, i believe it was running 7's or 6's. its on display at fishers.

well you are wrong o know 22r's real good. i would use 20/50 castrol. best oil you can buy, especially since your motor probably has assloads of milage on it. me and my brother are building a 22rblock with a 20r head and slapping a ct26 off a supra along with supra injectors into his 85 celica GT-S

Thank you very much, I have a Haynes and it was saying to run straight 30 weight... Sounds wrong to me...
The engine is supposed to be rebuilt, but maybe 20,000 ago... So I have been running 10 30 Castrol, as I think Castrol is the best.
I also had another question.
Where would be a good location to place a after market water temp sensor? My stocker acts funny and is not accurate.
I see some sensors under the neck, but I am not sure if I can disconnect them.

no you run an early 22r carburated block wich had a double row timing chain and you put forged low compression pistons with a 20r head and ct26. 22rte's are rare so we're tring to get the best combination for power an reliability
