Default hg blew any suggestions?

my hg blew about a week ago my father and i were trying to fig out what it was just it was just leaking water we thought it was the freez plugs but my luck when i took it to a shop sure and shit its the hg

talked with them today said a hg KIT (?) was like 400$ +labor not sure on price my father said the kit and what they need to do is semi rebuild the top end?

im going to have one of my dads friends take a look at it and see if he can give me a deal but if anyone knows a place i can get stuff cheap tell me or a shop that does good work at a good price im all ears

well if it overheated the head needs to be machined thats like 50 $'s . ARP's are around 100 $'s and a HG is gonna be around 100 or so .

It's really not that hard to do if you mechanically inclined . Just be sure to label everythign and clean stuff really good . Also torque the headbolts to like 90 ft/lbs not the 60 it tells you too .

its a hard top im thinkin now of just driving my caddy for now i guess and saving up for another engine insted of fixing this one
i had org wanted to put in a tubro engine so i guess nows a good time to start saving =\

i dont know how difficult it is to swap an engine but has anyone had any exp doing so and how much would the install run?
