Default Why is it required that "calendar" must be "approved"?

I look at Calendar/local events:
https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/ca...alendarid=3&s=

I see a Sam's Club meet posted Wednesday all the way into eight years from now, to 2020 and a cars and coffee on some Saturdays and that's all.

I sent a PM to the person who posted eight more years of the Wednesday meet asking him if anyone ever went out there any more.....he did not reply back.... LOL
It looks like there is no one to "approve" calendar events.....and no one who ever checks to see if a posted event is current. Is this true?

I tried to post a couple events on the "calendar" about a week ago. It says that for me to post on the calendar, it has to be approved by a moderator.

1. Any idea why it is taking so long?
2. Any idea if the moderator who would "approve" my events is still active on TR?
3. Since we know which member is posting the "calendar event", Why is it a requirement that "calendar" postings must be approved, when "Local Events" does not require any approval at all?

The calender needs to be re-worked.
It could be such a useful tool and resource to the site. I know I would be one of those people that would check it often looking for something to do.
But, it could potentially be a time consuming job sorting out everyone's events and keeping up with it all.

Default It takes a bit of work to put events in order, but when I get invited ......

Empire,
I know what you mean. I have posted a lot of events in date order with details here:
https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/l...ents-date.html
Someone must be reading it as there were 2,000 views in the last 3 months of 2012 and I have continued into 2013.

You are correct. It takes a bit of work to put events in order, but when I get invited to something I post it up for everyone to see in my thread. I get a lot of invites.

Dr Morty and I have talked a bit about why someone has been (in the past) required to get "approval" to post on the calendar. ....from someone who's not there to approve....LOL and he has cleaned up the calendar, but still looking into ordinary people posting there and relieving the extra work of "middle-manning" it by a non-existent moderator. He's working on it.-Bob
