Default hks vs perrin downpipe

ok. so the HKS doesnt have the bottle neck for the wastegate hole like the expensive ones do, but does that extra extension justify 200-400 over the price of the HKS? havent really seen any dyno comparisions.

The HKS has no dump for the wastegate. The flange is a plate design just like the factory pipe. Sure its 3" but is aluminized steel (not stainless) and has no flex to allow movement.

I would not waste my time with the HKS unit. We sold one and never reordered any more.

Perrin products are nice, very well made. We used to sell them.

Go Perrin or MRT. The HKS is really good if you're on a tight budget, but the aforementioned parts do a much better job of dealing with the wastegate exhaust. TurboXS(if memory serves) makes a funky looking, two-piece DP that Mastro threw on a customer car a couple of weeks ago. It made me think of a whale when I saw it, but it seemed to be pretty well put together.

Whatever you do, get something that allows the wastegate to exhale freely and make sure it's stainless, for obvious reasons.

I'd do the MRT piece for one reason only... flex joint. with as much as the WRX exaust system flexes & twists it's well worth the extra money to go with a flex joint.

The Invidia is the best in my opinion, I've had the HkS and never even put it on because i didn't like the design....
