Subaru Engine design question
Ok! i have the FIRST REAL Question
(probably a dumb one but i know nothing about the WRX)
Why is the side firing pisons better than the up and down pistons found in a 4 cylinder?

Porsche and Subaru use the horozontally-opposed design to help ith handling. By having an engine's pistons fire sideways makes the engine wider not taller giving a lower center of gravity.
Plus horozontally-opposed (or flat or Boxer) engine are well known for their torque output.
