Auto to Manual???!

Auto to Manual???!
WRX friend Nephtali (has '02 auto WRX) wants to know how much it would cost (and of course if it would be practical) to switch from auto to manual (sti 6 speed perferably). I know this wont be cheap, but is it worth it? He wants to eventually upgrade turbos.

So what would you recommend to him, just stick to auto and upgrade the turbo? Once he upgrades the turbo to say a VF30, or VF34 do you thinnk there will be a significant difference in power between auto to manual? He really regrets getting an auto....

upgrade the auto... once your fast enoughf auto is better

What are his intentions for the car? To what purpose is he building it?
If he is going to be drag racing it I would say buy a new car...but he could keep it and upgrade the auto. Like blackwagon said, it is better for drag racing.
If he plans on doing auto-x or any sort of open track racing I would do the conversion to manual.

I know he's into Drag Racing. It's his daily driver that he races on weekends, and wants to be at least a 12 sec car. Also, we're in Orlando and really dont know of any places to Auto-X around here. Recommend any? He'd proably be into that.
