Thinkin about the WRX

OK i know i have bounced between cars..This is what i am lookin for. 4 door car with some sporty kick to it. enc WRX, Mazdaspeed, SE-R Spec V.

This will be my first Manual car(but i have drivin a manual black eclipse rs). I have some ?'s

Warranty issues with the WRX?
Is it to much car for me u think?
I hear the trannys suck is that true?
and finally(i think) good mods for beginner for this car?

SOA has been good with the warranty on the cars from everything I have read and from my exposure to them. The biggest thing is that they stopped warranting 1st and 2nd gear in the tranny because of to many stupid people doing 6,000rpm clutch drops. I don't know if that has changed since I bought mine, but I doubt it.

I have no idea? It is a fairly powerful car, but it is easy to control once you learn it. Just remember if you go into a turn hard don't lift off the throttle or hit the brakes unless you want to back end to step out...once it does it is just a simple matter of stepping on the gas and the car will pull itself out of the slide.

No, the tranny holds up fine as long as you treat it right. If you constantly drop the clutch, etc. it isn't going to last long; but if you treat it right you shouldn't have any problems. I've had my car for over a year and I def. drive it and it is holding up fine. It even made it through 2 trips to the track and over 15-20 runs making over 280hp at the wheels.

Check some of the other threads in here where people have asked what they should do with there cars. There is alot of useful information floating around.

It's a great inexpensive car. The transmission is totally fine assuming you're not a total idiot with it. I've had my WRX for well over an year and 30,000 miles and no problems. The small issues I did have have all been very easily and quickly resolved via the warrenty on a mildly modified vehicle.

The only thing I regret is not getting the wagon. It's much more practicly as the seat does not fold down on the sedan.
