105K maintenance help
I'm new to the area and have some time off over the next couple weeks. I would like to perform the 105K service to my 2005 wrx wagon myself, but would like to work with someone who has done it before. I'm hoping I get a good response from this post, if not I heard MASTRO and S&R performance do good work. Any input is appreciated.
No, I want help and wouldn't mind meeting some people in the area. My cache of tools is quite pitiful and have never done any extensive maintenance on my own vehicle. All I have done myself thus far is plugs, filters, oil changes, up/down pipe, and a mid pipe. Figured this would be a good way to save some coin and learn more about my car. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, just not comfortable performing the work with only a maintenance manual.
The hardest part would be to set proper timing due to having two heads.
also changing spark plugs, the location is a bitch.
make sure to do tensioners and waterpump, cam seals as well.

I didn't think doing the plugs was all that hard. Took me about an hour. I'm more worried about pulling the radiator and as you said, making sure both my cams stay in place when I pull that belt off. Talked to Bobby(?) over at S&R and said they could do it for me on Tuesday, so I'm prob gonna go that route.
Spark plugs aren't hard, just a bitch due to location and tool fitment is evil.
You did use platnium spark plugs, right?
pulling radiator actually is easy, thermostat access to some cars are just evil in placement.
Waterpump, tensioners and timing belt components are also easily accessible. IMO a neon/99% of FWD cars are harder to do due to engine placement due to transaxle taking up same space.

No, I used NGK Iridium IX's. Pretty sure the only difference between them and the oem platinums is longevity. I change my plugs every 30K to get an idea how the engine is doing anyways and am not interested in spending $13 a plug. I've thought about running coppers and changing every 15K...
I had my timing belt done at Sunset in Sarasota for $481.50 out of the door.. Everywhere else wanted $700.00+
