Mastro buying old Subarus
Sorry I don't post much, but long time lurker here on the forums.
I just got a call from Mastro Subaru wanting to buy my 02 Impreza WRX. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten this or has experience with dealerships that do this. I think I know why they are doing it, but am not sure.

Well, what they will do is try to entice you into buying a brand new, or 2010 WRX or STi. Right now, the demand for the GD body (02-07) WRX's are really high, and Mastro could make money off the car. They would probably offer you a "generous" $6k for your car, clean it up, do all the routine inspection stuff, and then turn around and sell it for $10k-12k. Dealers make more money on used cars than new. They pick them up at whole sale, and sell them at 3x what they paid for it. My g/f's father has a dealers license.... I have seen how it works. Your best bet is to keep it unless you need a new car, or they offer you an outrageous deal.

Eh, well I went there today to see what they would offer. As I walked in the sales guy really had no clue. I told him I was called and made a appointment today. He asked if I was interested in selling, and I said not really he looked at me and shrugged. That was that, no offer or anything, though they really didn't have anything on the lot, not even 2010 or 2011 WRX. Looks like they were hurting for used cars, there wasn't much there. But if you want a Outback or Forester they might have ya covered.

lol sounds like poor management..
when I was looking for a wrx in the 10,000 range they had one and I called about it. They said it just sold and that the next one coming in is already sold lol. So I guess they are in high demand and they're trying to make a few bucks.

There is no hype... they are horrible. Half the people on here either work there or are friends with people who work there (so they are afraid to say anything bad). Their sales guys dont know that product and their service is even worse. I have a rebuilt engine to prove it.
