Default Planning this out right?

In a month or so i will be in the market to swap out my 1.8L 5spd tranny for one that will bolt up to my EJ20tt. (Im going to convert it over to single ive decided, i have heard and read many opinions on the subject; everything from notching the crossmember for the TT to ditching the idea and getting a new engine and such...)

My question to ya'll is what and where am i looking for? Outside of being told i need a ej series tranny im lost! I have found this to be more time consuming (part searching and research wise) than i had originally thought.

I have been told most WRX and STi parts will bolt on regardless of the years. How acurate is that statement? If i get a deal on headers or other exhaust components i want to make sure they will fit; i.e: what years, body styles, engines...etc. My goal is to gather the parts that will make the car functional before i gather the go faster parts; i.e: aftermarket.

From this: A siezed and detonated 95 Impreza L w/1.8L 5spd
Going to: A EJ20TT switched to Single T, with 5spd

Yes lot of work, but im willing to do it. Is it best to stay within a body style and badging (wrx or sti) or bastardize this build and jump where ever the parts are?

Also i honestly do appreciate the helpful feedback that i recieve from these topics i post...and i understand that the not so helpful comes with it...Thanks again.

The only issue when changing the exhaust manifold (header) is to make sure it will clear your oil pan. You may have to source a used wrx/sti oil pan to make sure things work in tandem.
I don't know much about the ej20tt, but look forward to following your build.

Stick with stuff from the bugeye wrx and you'll be fine. Wrx front crossmember, wrx tranny and matching rear diff. You also should be able to run the wrx up pipes and single down pipe. And maybe have to use the wrx oil pan as posted above.

Fyi the springs and struts i just threw under my gf8 were all for the 02-03 wrx sedan.
