Default Engine id question.

Is there a way to id a short block, I was given one and was told it was out of a wrx sti, but when i asked a few questions it didn't seem he really new what it was out of. is it stamped into the block or is ther a number that i can check. any info is appreciated thanks Pat.

If it's out of a USDM STi, there should be EJ25 stamped on the top of the block towards the front of the block.

Or buried six feet in the ground, if the block was buried because someone that used to own a Subaru got so pissed off while working on his car and decided to throw it in his backyard, dig a hole and bury it.

ok it has ej20 on the top. what is it is it worth anything or do i use it as a boat anchor.

there is no heads or intake pistons are there anthat is about it . i think i have the flywheel for it also . will try to take a pic of ot tomorrow. what the hell is it. it is in allright condition pistons have some carbon on them, other than that i really don't know.
