Just to clarify a few things:
We installed a new factory-assembled short block from Subaru, but we did suggested a built bottom end with aftermarket rods and pistons.
Customers provided all the aftermarket parts for this build. We also made a few more suggestions for parts selection including PPG gearset, ported heads & cams.
Bottom line is that we can't warranty someone else's components. Subaru is aware they made few bad engines and recalled them back under warranty. Unfortunately, this particular block is in a WRX and it has an aftermarket turbo set up meaning Subaru will not cover it under recall.
We're doing what we can to ensure that this doesn't happen again and that our customers are happy, but the in performance industry (such as in life) there really aren't any sure things. Even built motors can fail and component longevity can not be predicted. The best that you can hope to do is procure the best parts you can and have them assembled properly.
