Perrin 3582R
Perrin 3582R
Now that the suspension has been upgraded, I'm going back for more power upgrades and have opted for the Perrin 3582R rotated mount kit with Snow meth inj., bigger fuel injectors and fuel pump. I'm a little worried about the stock internals, although Bobby (S&R) doesn't seem to be bothered. Any advice?
We run 35R's on LOTS of stock blocks. I'd suggest the 0.63 hotside. I'd also consider the AMS or the P&L kits...

Thanks for the info. I will discuss it with Bobby. He originally mentioned an ATP turbo, but Perrin had the complete kit and he is going to be a dealer for them now. Of course, I will need you to tune it. We are staying with the stock tmic. Do I need an upgraded pitch stop or other ancillary parts? Have you had any experience with the Grimmspeed phenolic spacers?
The ATP's are NOT "Real Garrett" turbos like the rotated kits. They are decent turbos, but they are NOT like doing a real one... We have used the Perrin's for years and they certainly work, for a while they were the nicest kits out there. The Ultimate Racing kits seemed a bit nicer, but the AMS and P&L kits are really a step up in build quality (and price).
I don't believe there is any advanage to changing the pitch stop, many race cars don't run them. (there is talk of them being for crash protection.)
The spacers are certainly good in theory, but often create a leak in practice...

Also with such poor spoolup (4500 rpm?) you want to be rewarded with massive power and the .63 won’t deliver it. The .63 is a better match for something like a 50 Trim. ...Phil.

There are plenty of other reasons, but we beat Phil at every event we went up against him in our "Lucy" with a .63 hotside 35R... It makes 635whp and had not only significantly more peak power but DRAMATICALLY more power-band than ALL the other cars that were dynoed at Cobb when Redline ran at Miller...
The wastegate "easily" flows all the exhaust not required to make boost...

We were also the only AWD unlimited car to run a full season on the same motor. To say that "it can't make reliable power on a 2.5" appears to be a bit unfounded. I've had days in out shop that I could see SEVEN cars with .63 hotside 35R's at the same time

That's pretty weak... No offense, but how is it being driven?
