i have rota gforce 17x8 gunmetal and thinking about painting them a gold/bronze color. i imagine it would be very hard cause its going from dark to light. any suggestions?

 

i painted my rota subzeros gold. i didnt even wash the wheels, just wiped them clean with a towel. then masked off the tire with masking tape and went at it. came out pretty damn well and it took maybe 2 hours including drying time

 

were they a dark color to start with?

 

If you start with a darker color, it will just take a few more coats to get them to the color you want. Or you can primer them first and go from there.

 

use a light color primer,silver or white,that way itll bring out the light color of the paint even more.that way u dont have to give it too many coats of paint just so itll look lighter

good deal. i might do that. i have to decide on if gold/bronze would look good on my silver 02 wrx.

 

i dont think gold looks good on anything besides blue, most of the time black, and sometimes white....

 

yeah idk....sometimes gold can look really nice on silver but i dont want to regret painting my dd rims.

i might do bronze

 

go with a pale gold, it looks sick on silver. I can't wait to do it to my next PSM car!

Make sure to stay away from the gaudy gold, though...
