Question To do it or not to do it

replace the cv boot myself or let a shop do it???

For the boot maybe. Then another $80 in labor. So for $112 (my guess) you can have it done at Mastro. Well, you can buy the whole axle for nearly that much and replace it yourself. Oh BTW, once you replace a boot, the CV joint will have to be replaced very soon unless you just get very lucky. So, back to Mastro (or anywhere else) for another $200. $300 for someone else to do it twice or $130 for you to do it once...you pick.

ive had cv boots replaced twice at mastro and i think both times the bill said $200-something. They were both under warranty for me though.

I've never tried to do a CV boot myself, but I know its not fun talking to a few different shops.

you can have the whole axle rebuilt for $100 and then do the labor yourself

well i got the boot for 20 bucks ill replace it and if the axles go time to upgrade then thats how i see it
