wow
The lip on that Legacy, my Legacy and Jon's Legacy put out what, 1 lb of downward force at 100mph? These "lips" are usless for creating downforce and do not smooth out the air traveling underneath the car. They are more for show than performance.
Now if you had an adjustable front splitter, that was low to the ground (as in an inch or less off the ground with a set of canards on your front bumper and the whole underside of the car covered in smooth panels and a big diffuser in the rear, that would be track effective.

lol

oh and i would completely agree with you lol... thats why whenever I talk to people about tracking their WRXs I always suggest trading up to an STI.

but that will still be the wrong answer, trade down to the rs and swap it
.
car looks nice. Minus the fenders, I'd take it as my comfortable and eye-catching DD. I do still want a legacy when I graduate for my 3rd car
im glad there are people on TR that understand the concept of ground effects. I always feel surrounded by rice and aesthetics when i look at pics on here. but PS, canards dont work until you can wind tunnel test them on the car. downforce increase is outweighed by a huge drag increase.

Personally, I think that street cars dont need wings and splitters to be good track cars unless you are pushing GOBS of horsepower and pushing past the limits of your suspension/tires where you would need aero grip to help you corner at higher speeds, but smoothing the air flow under the car will always help reduce your drag coefficient.
ehhh its really not a high hp thing. more along the lines of how many high speed turns there are. on a very low speed track, aero doesnt make much of a difference. but on a high speed track you have extra girp in the turns and in braking zones.

im going to disagree with both of you. theres always an advantage in aerodynamics.
if you're past the limits on your suspension without aero, then you're past it with aero even moreso. You need to consider aero in your suspension setup, its the same as if you had that weight in the car.
tires though will always benefit from aero. And it doesnt matter if its a slow corner or fast, the more aero you have, the faster you can go. the faster you go, the more effective your aero. . .it just keeps helping you.
