Default TBE question

i have had a catback on 07 wrx for almost a year now and been thinking of getting a downpipe for it to get some extra power. i have been reading some stuff about it and i find that i cant put it on my car unless i port my stock wastegate on my turbo AND get engine managment. Or i get a upgraded turbo that already has the ported wastgate

Any suggestions? And does anyone know how to port the stock waste gate on a stock turbo?

no to the ported wastegate

you dont *need* engine management, but it will make a world of difference. I HIGHLY recommend engine managamenet.

the only thing u need if u get the downpipe is a tune. u dont have to touch the turbo for nothing.

All you need is a tune either with opensource or something like the AccessPort from Cobb.

Some claim that to prevent boost creep you need to port the wastegate. The tune will handle the boost creep and keep you within the efficiency range of the turbo.

getting the uppipe is a nice upgrade just because u got a catalitic on it before the turbo(im not sure if the 07 has it too) by eliminating it u let the turbo spool a bit faster and prevent from damaging the turbo too if the cat fails. but taking all the cats out and going straight all the way back works great w the Tdo4. i had my tdo4 running on 18psi w/o any mods to the turbo. and it ran great.
