Default running rich

So I am aware that on a stock tune the STi (its an 06) runs pretty rich, but my STi is only getting about 16 mpg city. Is that normal? I bought it used and apparently it has a Perrin 3" DP. The rest of the exhaust is stock. Do you other STi guys get pretty shitty milage? Im in it hard sometimes, but mostly just easy to and from work rides. Dont have the money for Access port at this point in time, so thats not really an option to change the map. Thanks for any help.

How many miles are on the car. New air filter and some spark plugs can always help

this is kinda how I was feeling on the situation. Just didnt know how shitty. As for an open source reflash... not sure if my money is looking right for a reprogram. I know it cost me $550 to get my ECU reflashed on my Sentra. I will try replacing the air filter. For $15 it cant hurt! Thanks fellas. I'm clearly new to the subby world and will be asking dumb questions on occasion. Dont worry, i search first.

opensource tuning is cheap. I think snowmans current rate is a flat $190

Yeah my stock 07' STi had terrible gas milage. Then I added some fun lil bits and it got even worse. lol

It wasnt until Snowman touched teh car that I didint have to fill up 2 times a week. Now on the flip side my 08' STi is averaging 18MPG on sport mode, I can get to 20MPG on I-Drive.

yeah, used to get decent gas milage in my wrx, after i started tuning it i get around 33 to 34 on highway with stg2+ custom map. the tuning definately makes the engine run alot more effenciently...ie...better fuel econ. ill be busy for the next two weeks, have a trial i have to attend as a witness, trying to keep my friend out of 5 to 10 in jail for something that never happened. If you are interested in tuning, i live in sarasota.

in a subaru your mileage is directly proportional to the skinny pedal position

I've gotten 28mpg in my car and I've also gotten 14 mpg in my car...so, yeah

my truck on the other hand will get 18 behacing or as low as 8 if hauling ass with a load
