Default XPT stage 2 questions

I have an 03' WRX w/ a Monster TD-04, 3'' catless TBE, gutted up and Process West CAI. I've been running this setup for about a year now and I've finally made the decision to get a tune (I know that should have been my first priority).

I'm very interested in the XPT stage 2 and my friend w/ an 02' WRX is picking up a Tactrix and XPT stage 2 as well, but I have a few questions:

1. Is it worth it to upgrade to the GB BCS w/ appropriate map?
2. I've got oscillating boost right now, will this fix it on the stock BCS?
3. Will I be able to run a Process West CAI (the MAF protion is the same diameter as stock). I have the stock intake assembly w/ a K&N panel w/ snorkel delete at my house.
4. Can I use my friends Tactrix from an 02' and flash my car with it?

the Gm bcs would be good for the 2.0 to get spooling and hold boost better.

changing the bcs is not going to help boost oscillations if not tuned properly will make boost oscillations worse.

i personally would not run the PW CAI with a off the shelf tune

you can use your friends cable but for the 03s i believe you will need a different jumper block.

the xpt maps are good safe maps but you still may need to play with it a little to get it to work with the car.

I've replaced every singe part of the boost control system and still can't get it to stop oscillating. It feels like the wastegate is staying closed too long and then has to play catch up.

As far as the CAI, I'm going to email XPT and see if they can make a custom tune that will work but if not I'll throw the stocker back on.

Why don't you get a custom Tune and work with the Tuner to sort out your issues?

Well I would but Snowman has a pretty good waiting list and all the other local tuners are either available only once in a while or I've heard horror stories. I posted on nasioc to see what people had to say and there's quite a few people on there that are satisfied w/ XPT tunes.

I'd personally wait for a tuner and a custom map. Just so much different than an off the shelf map. My buddies 07 blew up on a stg 2 XPT map with the exact mods the map was for...

I've heard they're aggressive maps. (Said above "safe maps". No one can really tell BUT a tuner.)

If you're interested in email tuning, awdtuning is the way to go. Guy tunes some awesome cars. (Bout to retune mine)

I've read that the guy who makes the XPT tunes will look at your datalog after you flash and make any corrections needed.

Any good tuner should do this... it is crucial because all cars are different.

For example, my car is unusually fast. I've considered it a factory oddball, but with just a catback and no tune, I used to run with stg. 2 STi's. Now, with stg. 2, I can walk away from every stg. 2 I've raced.

.....I don't know where I was going with that last part, just shamelessly plugging I guess. lol.

13B you can only run the off the shelf maps with with the parts that are stated in the mapping details.

putting any intake other than the stock one (unless stated other wise) is not good. The maf calibrations are critical to tuning the car.
on the stock maf calibrations with the stock intake the fueling table will represent something very close to what is really in the exhaust.

was the 07 xpt map that blew your buddies car up an sti. if so not a suprise their timing is very weird and i almost want to say the cobb 07 sti maps are kinda crazy too.

if it is was an 07 wrx xpt map then your buddy did not have all the off the shelf parts and should have gottin a custum tune. i have an 06 wrx and know a little about those maps.

if you look through some of the xpt forums under the free maps you may find a familiar name.
