Default please help!

I took my 04 wrx into a shop because it's been surging.... they're telling me that i have a bad wastegate and accuator, and that the turbo's been "dusted". My car's been running on .5 bar forever now, so they may be right. I have exhaust, intake, upgraded intercooler, and headers on the car and my car runs like crap. WTF is the problem???

no clue, i've never heard the term "dusted" before. but forge does make an aftermarket wastegate actuator setup for your vehicle. if you'd like to try one out, i know the right people.

try resetting the ecu by taking off the neg bat cable and pushing the breaks. reconnect, it sounds to me like you could just be in limp mode. do you have a tune for the mods?

no i haven't ever had my car tuned, so that could also be part of the problem. first the shop did diagnostics on my car and said that it was a vacuum problem, and then they come say that my car's surging because the turbo's bad. I'm a girl, and i know that shops always try and screw girls over because they think that we don't know much about the cars we drive. i've had to replace the bottom end of my motor after the car had only 30k miles on it, so i'm not sure wtf to do. my boyfriend talked to jester tuning today, so maybe i'll just go get my car out and have him swap the turbos and have jester tune it?? lmk what you all think.

the symptoms of the car are that its been running on .5 bar, it surges all the time now (started off only surging around 70 mph, but now it does it even at 25), it falls flat on its face a lot before the surging problem even happened, it smokes black every once in a while.

It could be a bad boost control solenoid. To test it you take it off (right behind where the factory air box goes under the black cover) and run 12V through it. You should hear it clicking. If it's a little stuck you can run non-chlorinated brake cleaner through it while you're cycling it open and close.

get your car tuned, if something actually is wrong the tuner will be able to tell right away.
