Hey everyone,

I just picked up a 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS (adding to my subie collection) and its manual gear box has seen better days. The problem is it grinds when going into 3rd gear (unless you rev-match) and 4th will let you in but once tou let off clutch it kicks out of gear and if you try and hold it in, well it sounds like the world is goign to end

Here is my dilema, I need the transmission fixed pretty soon but I dont have a lot of money for it. I was looking around for a used one but couldnt find anything older that didint cost around 1K.

Does anyone do transmission side work or know someone that does? I would be willing to bring the car to you and leave for as long as you need. Just really need to keep the cost down.
