i was wondering i just recently installed a belmouth and a midpipe so it a full turbo backwith a greddy axle back, i was on the interstate and around maybe 79~and up mph it would make a very wierd humming noise like hummMMMmMMmmMMmm and it was loud i thought it was a bad part of the road but it isnt it only happens when i get around that speed like it would happen every 4 out of 5 time i heit 79~ and up i have 19's on it and my cousin said it was the wheels its coming from the turbo area i dont really know but if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it thanks

 

Does it sound like it could possibly be the wastegate flapping? Does it happen at that speed regardless of boost or throttle position?

 

i believe it has nothing to do with boost or throottle because usually i cruise in vaccuum i try not to hit boost as much it isnt boost i believe though because jeff fixed that problem its not the fwa fwa fwa sound as in boost spiking or anything its different now its more like a humming like when you go over and over pass or something it wierd cant really explain it

 

What kind of tires are you running? Does the car pull to either side or pulse? When my brake rotors were really bad I would get a hum everytime I hit them at over 50 mph, even lightly. It sounds like it's probably in the suspension and not the engine, but it's probably not a bad idea to check the front end and make sure nothings loose. Did you loosen anything to install the exhaust and forget to tighten it? Hopefully it will be something dumb like that.

driveshaft center bearing carrier hitting the exhaust? I had a similar issue which I cured by using a hardened urethane ex. hanger.

 

when mine hit the exhaust it was low speed backing up normally

almost sounds like you have a front wheel out of balance if its around like 5-10mph of a certain speed. does the car shake as well?

 

my car was doing the same thing. but it ended up being my cutout motor hitting the bottom of the car. it was that gray hard plexy rubber shit.

 

car doesnt shake at all, I would understand my exhaust being loud like that if i had a hks or txs whic sound bad ass or something like that but its not it so quiet in the car i have a greddy on there i can have my radio at really low around 6 and still hear it on the interstate i dont really know
