ill give him a call.....although I may be getting a good deal on an sti setup today, the only problem with it is the bellhousing has a crack in it from an accident.

Are cracks in bellhousings repairable....or should I not even bother? My neighbor is a retired prof. welder and he does awesome work. So if it is fixable he would be able to do it for me. Ill call your friend and see what he says about it. Thanks for the help.

depending on how bad the crack is I would suggest getting a new bell house, we tried having some welds done on the aluminum case and it does not work good due to the type of alumunium. On the 6 speeds you can take the bellhouse off and replace it. Just have to transfer the front diff to the new housing.

well, being I've dabbled in just a few drivetrains (sense the sarcasm) and rebuild enough with the dealers tech making labor much cheaper...I've decided to get the last specialty tool I need. the front diff lash plate...so assuming I'm moving I'd be willing to help you out.
they really aren't hard, just need the right tools to do the job
I'm on my third gear set and my dogbox won't hold. so six speed here I come...RA's and PAR dogbox for sale.

ok well I found out that the sti tranny I am looking at has a busted bell housing so the front diff is no good, and it also has a crack in the case by the rear output shaft and the rear output shaft is bent slightly. He has everything else I would need like the rear diff...etc.....

but what I want to know is..... the tranny worth rebuilding or is it likely scrapped? And is there anywhere I can take it to have it inspected?
