ok so in the future...far far from here id like to put a bigger turbo and all the supporting mods.. nothing crazy just like an 18g or something similar. ive been doing research and i see that my 04 stock wrx trany cant hold anywhere near what an 18g produces.. what are the options here.. where can i find what im looking for etc.. or if anyone knows what kind of setup would be sufficient enough for my car thatd be a big help thanks guys..

 

there's plenty of people pushing 18g/16g/vf22 with supporting mods on the stock tranny.its just really how you drive.

if you did want to get a better tranny there's different types of gearsets you can buy.ra gears and ppg being the most popular.just do some research on those two gears and see which one fits your needs.

yeha thanks i just read the entire argument they had about the 6 speeds and the ppg gears.. i feel like an expert now lol... but i really never launch my car and dont even hit redline much i really dont speed its more of an appearance that im going for like i have the power but rarely like to use it.. like i know how fast my car is but i dont have to launch it next to any beater civic... (i had a civic too..so no offense) but i thought i would be ok with like and clutch/flywheel kit and regualr driving but i mean if i decide to drive it hard once and a while is an 18g gonna blow my shit up?

 

usually an upgraded clutch/flywheel only put more stress on our transmissions.also it really depends how you drive if your transmission is going to fuck up or not.it won't exacly "blow up"but you'll most likely strip a gear.ryan_west I think his name is on here just recently stripped 2nd or 3rd in his tranny just normal driving.i drive my car easy with a little bit of hard driving and its still running good.I just got done putting a downpipe/uppipe and prodrive midpipe on so well see how long it lasts.myself...I'm going ppg.it just suits my power goals in the future.and no an 18g shouldn't fuck your car up but it really depends.

 

honestly! if your going with a 18g.... id REALLY consider the ppg.... at least 1-2 straight cut with all new syncros.... you can tune for slow spool up going into 3rd and 4th.... you will be running meth!

what are your actual hp/tq goals???

what do you have done now??? I can point you in all the right directions for your goals.

and also, if your going for show i dont beleive that! you know damn well your gonna push that 18g to about 21lb.

 

lol...howd you know...no im not gonna beat it im mean im gonna drive it just drive it nicely...lol no im installing up pipe down pipe hks hipower and a cai but i need one of those...then of couse a tune... but i leave for school in august thats where ill save the money (hopefully) for eveything else..i wont need any tranny work done for just the first stuff correct..

 

your tranny will be fine with those bolt ons! how much boost are you seeing???
