I got $$$!
okay, i've been researching alot the past few days in anticipation of buying a larger turbo... i've decided on the FPRed 8cm w/ ex. wg... what i need to know now is what else i'll need to make this turbo work on my 04 STi.... i feel like a newb askin these questions, but i know there are a bunch of you that are a hell of a lot more experienced than me in this area.. right now the main things i know i'll need to support it are: walbro fuelpump, ex. wastegate, larger injectors (but i have no idea what size), and a tune... i've also heard a lot of good things about meth but we'll save that for once i've got the turbo installed and running well..
what else will i need to buy in order to get this install going in the right direction.... Experienced info is greatly apreciated but PLZ dont post if you dont know what your talking about. TY again!

If you don't already have a bunch of the parts you'll be better off spending a few hundred more and getting a rotated kit.
and in the end you'll be infinitely happier with the DD capabilities.

+1 on the rotated. I would go with the Ultimate Racing kit i really didnt like the way the Perrin kit fit. But its just MO.
You had a perrin kit?
the red is a giant turbo. pretty much the same as a 35R. If it were me I wouldnt do that size turbo with out building the motor... ie: pistons and rods at least. A good rule of thumb is to decide what your power goal is and then pick the smallest turbo that will reach that power level. this will give you the best power band.
and yes, rotated ftw!
and yes, rotated ftw!

i just went through what you did and after months of research went rotated because of the savings, ease of instalation, and better design
things that you will need are up-pipe, down pipe, bov, ewg, boost controller, turbo inlet, injectors, fuel pump, intake, exhaust, clutch, catch can, some sort of tuning like AP, UTEC, or ECUTEK, larger intercooler, and maybe even a larger MAF
if go with that red, you will need TGV deletes too which can be expensive or time consuming, adding a lot of time and labor
i did a lot of research and the above is really the bare minimum you will need.
see why it makes sense to look at a rotated kit instead?
i urge you to look at ultimate racing's kit. the quality, fit, and support is top notch and they are reasonably priced.
plus, several of us have put them in our selves and can help you when you get stuck
Ultimate-Racing.com call them, they are great!
I just looked back at by invoices and I paid about $7000 for everything... not including labor or tuning
turbo, up pipe, down pipe, intake, wastgate, dump tube, bov, injectors, MBC, cat back, clutch, intercooler, AP, UTEC...
add TGV deletes and a turbo inlet tube to that parts list for the FP red and a whole lot more brain damage for instalation
Steve
