Question Idle problems...

Since my new engine went in everything has been great...with the exception of one annoying little thing...my car keeps shutting off..I'm ideling at 500-600rpms and when I take turns with my foot off the throttle or stop at a light my car shuts off.

I've checked for vaccuum leaks and haven't found any that are visible. Is there a way to raise the idle so I don't keep choking out??

Let me know...I'm still a few weeks from my next Snowmann tune...needs a fix pretty soon..thanks!

what bov do you have? sounds like what my TXS did. The engine would suck it open and the car would stall.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, the MAF sensor. Everything elses seems intact and connected as far a vaccuum lines etc. I even tightened the spring on the BOV for slightly more tension so as not to have so much air escaping when decelerating. I'm going over to XAT this afternoon and Mike should be able to check it out.
If it was the MAF sensor though shouldn't I get a Check engine light?
Well ...then again it didn't go off when i through a bearing... go figure, if you don't tighten the gas cap enough you get one...Oh well.

Ok I've narrowed it down to two things...I checked everything and ther are no leaks that I can see. I unpluged the MAF sensor and cleaned it..ot was a bit dirty and it ran a bit smoother..then it started surging again so...I disconnected the MAF sensor and it ran smoothly without a problem then I connected it back up and there it goes again.

At this point I feel either the sensor is bad or its maybe a tuning issue which I'm sure Snowman can fix. If it were a bad sensor, I would imagine it would give a code, and throw up a check engine light.

Ok so I think I got the idle problem under control...I switched MAF Sensor's with my boy 1BADREX and his started surging and mine was nice and smooth, so I guess it was damaged some what. I went to REAL dealership got taken very good care of by Mario over at Reeves, he really hooked me up. Got the new MAF sensor and put it in...no problems..although I'm still idleing at about 600rpms, I'd like t o see that a bit higher. So I'll have Snowman make the adjustments.

Other than that...everything is good for now! Thanks to Mario Morales at Reeves Subaru Parts for the awesome service and discount! Go see him, he WILL take good care of you, not like other places. (you know what I mean).

Thanks to Snowman for the idea of switching MAF's first to eliminate that as an issue. Turned out that was the issue, and expensive one, but it works now.

p.s. Mario gave me an awesome deal on the SPT Radiator Shroud!! Looks awesome!
